ABOUT

Our Why

Our practice is located in a beautiful old Queenslander, close to the CBD but with ample parking. We are surrounded by glorious gardens, full of fruit and vegetables (hopefully when we see you there will be some for you to take home with you). The waiting room is very comfortable with a wonderful library of books to keep the children entertained.

Our testing equipment is state of the art and includes an OCT machine, visual fields machine and digital retinal camera. We have a dedicated, highly trained, vision therapist on staff who provides vision therapy in a room filled with the latest in treatment aids.

Our support staff are highly skilled with many years optical experience. We strongly believe that optimal vision can assist our patient’s to better “Do Your Thing” – whether that be read to your full potential, improve your ability to pass the football, thread your needle, whatever it is that you enjoy.

As a Toowoomba local of over 20 years and another 15 years before that in Cairns and Atherton, I think I can nearly call myself a Queenslander! Being born and raised in Sydney has made it possible for me to see the unique advantages of living in a regional city. Less traffic, and people who take the time to get to know you, are at the top of the list. It has also made me feel strongly about delivering a world class service to my patients.

I believe in helping people to “Do Their Thing”. Everybody’s “things” are different, so too is their vision. If we can assist our patients to achieve the best vision possible for them, allowing them to better enjoy their “thing” then we have achieved our goal.

I believe that everybody should be treated individually, with care and empathy. In my 36 years as an optometrist it has been my privilege to care for many many patients. Each one is unique and all of them teach me and challenge my knowledge in some way. Over the years I have found that taking the time to understand the cause of a problem has given me a greater ability to solve the symptoms.

One of my most important roles is to explain a patient’s vision to them in plain language. In this way my patients and their family can understand what is going on and together we can work to reach a solution. I love it when my patients ask me questions!

Together with my wife Megan and our three school and university aged children I feel a strong connection to our community, enjoying the close relationships that our regional city provides.

See you soon!  David
